Anita's Quilt- Threads of Inspiration

Launch date: Sept. 6, 2012

Anita’s Quilt- Threads of Inspiration brings together a large collection of short stories by women in technology. These women share how they are increasing women’s influence on technology by creating a more supportive infrastructure, taking on leadership roles, creating technology they think is important to the world, creating technology to benefit women and inspiring others to enhance the intersection of Women and Technology.

Anita’s Quilt – Threads of inspiration is a forum that allows all of us to pass on our enthusiasm for technology and the women’s technology community, and to pass on inspiration, encouragement and support to others in the community.  We can each contribute.  Some through primary posts, some through comments, some through repostings, and all through our own inspired actions.

Anita Borg was passionate about technology and empowering women.  On a personal level she encouraged many of us to take on more leadership in technology and life roles.  She created what is now the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology to increase the impact women have on technology and to increase the positive impact of technology for the world’s women.  Her fearlessness and overwhelming enthusiasm and passion for both technology and the women in technology directly inspired so many.   Many more technologists are inspired and empowered from the communities she founded – like Systers and Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing.

This project is a result of Anita’s personal inspiration.  The founding Quilting Bee knew Anita and wanted to create a mechanism to take that spirit and inspiration forward.
